Cardiac MRI: Clinical Challenges 4D Flow Imaging
نویسنده
چکیده
Objectives • To review recent advances in phase contrast MRI methodology that allow for 4D Flow MRI acquisitions in clinically feasible scan times. • To review physiological markers that can be obtained with 4D Flow MRI, including vorticity, pressure maps, pulse wave velocity, .and wall shear stress. • To review potential limitations and potential sources of errors for velocity mapping and parameters derived from those measurements. • To provide an overview of potential impact of such novel applications in research and clinical diagnosis.

Advanced Analysis Techniques for Intra-cardiac Flow Evaluation from 4D Flow MRI
PURPOSE OF THE REVIEW Time-resolved 3D velocity-encoded MR imaging with velocity encoding in three directions (4D Flow) has emerged as a novel MR acquisition technique providing detailed information on flow in the cardiovascular system. In contrast to other clinically available imaging techniques such as echo-Doppler, 4D Flow MRI provides the 3D Flow velocity field within a volumetric region of...
متن کامل4D flow imaging with MRI.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has become an important tool for the clinical evaluation of patients with cardiovascular disease. Since its introduction in the late 1980s, 2-dimensional phase contrast MRI (2D PC-MRI) has become a routine part of standard-of-care cardiac MRI for the assessment of regional blood flow in the heart and great vessels. More recently, time-resolved PC-MRI with veloci...
متن کاملCongenital heart disease assessment with 4D flow MRI.
With improvements in surgical and medical management, patients with congenital heart disease (CHD) are often living well into adulthood. MRI provides critical data for diagnosis and monitoring of these patients, yielding information on cardiac anatomy, blood flow, and cardiac function. Though historically these exams have been complex and lengthy, four-dimensional (4D) flow is emerging as a sin...
متن کاملHemodynamic Measurement Using Four-Dimensional Phase-Contrast MRI: Quantification of Hemodynamic Parameters and Clinical Applications
Recent improvements have been made to the use of time-resolved, three-dimensional phase-contrast (PC) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which is also named four-dimensional (4D) PC-MRI or 4D flow MRI, in the investigation of spatial and temporal variations in hemodynamic features in cardiovascular blood flow. The present article reviews the principle and analytical procedures of 4D PC-MRI. Vari...
متن کاملA Survey of Cardiac 4D PC-MRI Data Processing
Cardiac 4D PC-MRI acquisitions gained increasing clinical interest in recent years. They allow to non-invasively obtain extensive information about patient-specific hemodynamics and thus have a great potential to improve the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. A dataset contains time-resolved, three-dimensional blood flow directions and strengths, facilitating comprehensive qualitative and qu...
